December 3 -- Boulder

.

Having motored my way through the hundreds of pics I took at the zoo, my energy available for working on pics is less than usual................

Trying to get caught up.............

On December 3rd we took a Denver city bus to Boulder (30+ miles from Denver, for $5 each way, each).

Here we are on the bus (which we caught in an underground location (hence the darkness!) at the train station.

On our way to the expressway.

More and more new housing.  And mountains!

Between Denver and Boulder.  After two mid-40s days, the snow that fell earlier in the week is almost gone.

Boulder has a "shopping street" that is partly pedestrian.  Pearl Street is what I was expecting 16th Street in Denver to be like.  Lots of interesting independent businesses, with lots of cool things to look at, enjoy, purchase.............

You can see that the other end of Pearl street is close to the nearest mountain.  (At least, in southeast Michigan we'd call that a mountain -- in Colorado, I expect it's a "hill".......)

Fancy puzzle shop.  The puzzle itself can be a fancy shape.

And/or the pieces can be in fancy shapes......

This is a really fun store.  We spent a lot of time enjoying all of the things on offer.  There was a lot of candy, and there was a LOT of soda pop...........

You know how it is nowadays, that every grocery store has candy canes in flavors other than peppermint?  Strawberry, say, or spearmint.......

Rocket Fizz has much more interesting choices.  Wasabi.  Gravy.  (lol....)  Pickle.  Everybody's got cinnamon, I bet, but only Rocket Fizz describes it as Fire and Brimstone..........

Creepy horse head ornament?  I'm sure there's something here I'm missing.............

I bought a plaque that says "Technically, the glass is always full.  Half water, half air."  Excellent point!

We stopped into the tourist information center, where I scored some postcards, and got info on the locations of some places I wanted to visit.  The helpful and friendly person in there suggested we swing by the Boulderado Hotel.  We did, and we enjoyed its old-fashioned ambience, including this nice ceiling.
