October 22

.

Breakfast at the deli.  I keep coming back to these glass mugs, on the shiny black tables.....

Several hours later, we went in search of fresh, hot, autumn doughnuts.  Wasem's has a smallish automated doughnut set-up, which, when kept full of doughnut batter, squirts the batter into the frying oil, flips the doughnuts after the right amount of time, and then slides them up and out to drain.

A person makes sure they are coated with cinnamon sugar on both sides.

These were still hot when we ate them.  Mmmmmmm.........

We were also in search of pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns.  Wasem's had some, but we went by Nemeth's on the way to Wasem's, and they seemed to have a bigger selection.

(We know both Wasems and Nemeths from the Ann Arbor farmers' market.)

The Nemeths have a big farm stand under a white plastic quonset-hut sort of structure.  The diffused light in there was excellent for photos........  The rest of my family was outdoors looking at big pumpkins, and I was "indoors" taking pics........

Apples and more apples.

Squashes.

Little pumpkins.

Peppers.

We had gotten a lot of peppers at the farmers' market in the morning, and I added a box of these cute round red and yellow ones to my collection.  I try to get a very wide variety of peppers......

After we got home, we washed them, and then chopped them for the Hungarian pepper stew called lecsó .  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................

I have to believe it's good for us to eat food as beautiful as this is..................
