January 1

.

Every one saying "happy new year," and me not thinking this new year can possibly hold much that is "happy," at the global level.

Not when those in power have a stated goal of destroying everything I care about.................  The environment, our non-human fellow travelers on this planet, human rights of all kinds..............

Is it possible to be "happy" in this environment?

If it were possible, would it be moral?  (Not wishing to fiddle while Rome burns......)

Even though I'm well aware that if I am paralyzed, they win, it can be really hard to move, lacking the belief that anything I do makes any sort of positive difference.

I spent some time paralyzed, over the turn of the year.

Then I spent some time looking through my quotes file.  For inspiration/fortitude/courage.................

This is pretty much what I think is correct:

"Ya gotta look at the little picture.

"If you look too hard and too long at the big picture of life you'll just develop a twitch, alongside an overwhelming urge to hide under the bed."
-- www.t2net.com/blogtace   (Alas, this blog address is no longer valid.)

So that -- "keep your eye on the little picture" -- and this:

"I am only one, but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but still
I can do something. I will not refuse
to do the something I can do."

I just saw the name of your blog on Jeanie’s Marmelade Gypsy blog and was intrigued. The first thing that came to my mind is that you had a political blog (Orange = Trump) and did not know if you were for or against. I don’t think you meant needing orange for that reason. I wish you a happy new year – let’s hope for the best.

Thanks for the visit! I love Jeanie's blog. :-)

I've had this blog, with this name, since 2006. I am sad that he has given my favorite color a bad name.

I surely hope things won't be as disastrous as I fear.

As the song for the tv show Monk went -- "I may be wrong, but I don't think so!"
