May 24, part 5 -- Springdale, Utah

.

Here is a link to the interactive expedition map.

Now we are in Springdale, Utah, just south of Zion National Park.  We weren't able to book the lodge in Zion (it was full when we tried to book it, over 11 months before we got there).  Luckily there is a nice La Quinta about half a mile outside the park, and free shuttles to the edge of the park.

This is the view from the balcony outside our room.  !!!  Looking east.

We walked north along the road to the park looking for dinner.  We enjoyed the gardens along the way.

One property had a long frontage, fenced in rusty corrugated iron, with a lot of excellent plantings all along.

Looking back toward the southeast.  That naked tree in the center is a flag pole.

Yes.  Yes, resist we must.  Early and often.  Actively.  Thank you, flag-flyer.

We saw several "RESIST" signs as we traveled.........

Focusing our attention back on the garden-beside-the-rusty-barrier....

Here's a link to the next post about the Grand Canyon trip.
