November 6, 2017

.

Autumn.  This is ordinarily what it looks like in the middle of October.  October 2017 was so warm that everything was more colorful in November than usual.

Tomatoes on the vine.  At the end of the first week of November.  This is Not Normal...............

Roses blooming in my front yard.  (Roses are hardier than tomatoes.  By a lot.  Roses blooming in December are not that unusual.)

Maple, on a beautiful day.

Hostas are tender, like tomatoes.  These are reallllly close to "done for the season."

And yet there are still plants blooming.  !!!  Two different kinds, right in this one-foot-square area.....

Birch, glowing in the sunshine.

The Rat House.  I did not count them this time.  You can assume that every white or black spot is a rat.....

Closer crop of the above.  More than 40 rubber rodents (including the rat skeletons at the top), and one live one.  :-)

Skellingtons have joined the rats.....

CB -- you wondered how they could mow, with rats all over the yard.  Around these parts mowing is really not necessary in November.  Only the truly anal are still mowing that late in the year.  Even in a warm fall like we had in 2017.

Oh wow.  Processing these pics in the end of March (2018) -- all of this color seems like a miracle.  Hard to believe it ever exists.

Japanese maple.

Regular maple, ready for its closeup.

Wow again.  Regular maple.

Burning bush.

The brown one is a tulip tree's leaf, and the other two are two different kinds of maple.
