December 12, 2017

.

Frost on the window, just before the sun came into view.

Closer crop of the above.

Two different crops of frost with the sun.

Later.  I was out doing some shopping.  I am not actually a fan of audibly-ticking clocks, but this bunch of cute and imaginative clocks, all ticking and swinging, made me smile.  Love them in the store; don't want one at home.

Clever designs, both clocks and pendulums.  Seen at Catching Fireflies in Ann Arbor.

Felt trivets.  Love all this color.  Wouldn't it be incredible to have a whole wall of these?  (Expensive, and really hard to clean, but cool.............)  (Also at Catching Fireflies.  They have a lot of fun and interesting stuff.)

Country scone from Zingerman's Bakehouse.  Mmmmmmm.  (That dark out-of-focus thing is a raisin.  These have raisins, walnuts, oatmeal, and cinnamon sugar on top.....)

Now in Spun, the yarn shop in Kerrytown.  Lots of fun and interesting stuff in here, too.  And nice to pet!

Hollander's.  Lots of fun and interesting stuff.  Not as fun to pet as the yarn.

Walking home.  This is where the sidewalk is, on the east end of West Park.

You can tell it's cold and windy.

But the sun is out.  Not a bad day at all.

The evening of December 12, 2017, we went to a special dinner at Zingerman's Roadhouse.  Rolando Beramendi, who brings delicious Italian foods to the USA, brought olionuovo -- 2017's brand new olive oil -- to Ann Arbor, and oversaw the creation of a lovely dinner based on the olive oil.

This olive oil was olives the previous week, so new oil really means new oil.  It was a lovely dinner, with recipes coming from Rolando's beautiful new cookbook Autentico.  I think my very favorite dish was kale, cooked with olive oil, over toasted bread.  It was "just" an appetizer, but it was *just delicious*.

Yum.
