March 9, 2018 -- part 2, Independence Hall

.

The American Museum of Jewish History is just east of the block where the Liberty Bell is housed.

George, you freaking hypocrite.  !!!

Looking 90 degrees to the south of where I took the previous shot -- Independence Hall.  That white stuff sticking into the image from the right is the building housing the Bell.

Independence Hall.  It was chilly and blustery.  I don't think we've ever been in Philadelphia on a nice day.  Two trips in March, when it was cold, and one in July when it was HOT.

These buildings are original, with some re-pointing........

Waiting for the time on our tickets, when we will be allowed in to hear about Independence Hall.

Biggish sycamores.  Not big enough to have been there when this was a hotbed of revolution.

That building with the pillars housed the first subscription library in the western hemisphere.  Don't strain to read the info at the bottom of the next image -- the one after that has been doctored for easier viewing.

Thank you, Ben Franklin.  For a library, as for so many other things!

Inside Independence Hall.  This is where the Declaration and the Constitution were debated, and, finally adopted.  I have to tell you -- I'm not sure all of this was a good idea.  I believe that both Canada and Australia are more civilized than the USA at this point.  So are we all better off than we would have been had this little experiment failed?  Hard to say..............

Another ranger, doing a good job of helping us understand the magnitude of what happened here.

Beautiful staircase on the back of Independence Hall.

Looking at Independence Hall from the front.  Many clocks.

Closeup of the weather vane.
