gene therapy working for a specific kind of blindness

.

Article from the Smithsonian about gene therapy for a specific kind of blindness.

They have been able to halt a particular kind of neurodegeneration with gene therapy, and are hopeful that their technique may (someday) also be helpful for stopping other kinds of neurodegeneration, including ALS.

Having had a dog who was afllicted with the canine version of ALS, this one is near to my heart.....

I know just enough about the workings of DNA and how proteins are made to think their technique is genius.  Thank goodness for scientists working to spread goodness in our world.
