Some years ago, they decided to build artificial rapids for kyackers beside a stretch of the river. This is the place where water is diverted into the rapids.
Here's that water going into the rapids. You can see a couple of places near the top of the image where rocks go most of the way across the water. Those are the rapid parts.
I have video of the places in both of the previous two images, but Blogger is declining to speak to me about the possible uploading of videos at present. Pity.
