I want to CHOOSE the colors......

I am almost finished with one of the wool socks. I am knitting black ribbing at the top, and have said ribbing about half done.

It occurred to me as I was knitting along that I am tired of letting someone else pick the colors as I knit. I mean, ok, I picked the (varigated) yarn, but as I go along, I don't get to decide which color goes next, or how much of it I want, or anything.

Another thing that happened yesterday was that I found that Patricia Bolton, the editor of Quilting Arts Magazine (QA and Cloth, Paper, Scissors are my favorite magazines) has a blog. Lots of the people Patricia does things with (and blogs about) are my heroes in the collage/assemblage/fiber/paper part of my world. Lesley Riley, for example. On Lesley's blog there are lots of links to cool blogs......

So -- there I was, knitting black ribbing, and thinking about all the media that pretty much *insist* that you choose what you want to use next, all the time, and I was getting itchier and itchier to do some collage/assemblage/fiber......

It will happen.

Browsing through blogs today at lunch, I found cupcake stitch markers. GOT to have them!! My daughter loved to decorate birthday cupcakes to take to school, when she was in elementary school, and the chocolate cupcakes with white frosting and lots of different colors of decoration look just like the ones she made. So I got three of those and one chocolate covered doughnut, just because.

I think you would find, now that you are so much more grown up, that all that frosting-from-a-tube is disgusting. :-) Fun to remember, but not as much fun to eat as, say, a ginger cookie.....
