The first evening, we ate in a nice Thai restaurant: VTK. The ambiance is nice, and I especially liked the appetizers. (We signed up for the group dinner for five.) The chicken skewer was my favorite. (I can see I'm going to have to take notes if I want to blog about food! The details are gone......)
The others in the party had to hustle back to their bridge game, so I waited for our chocolate beignets to be packed up, and strolled back to the hotel, keeping an eye on what was up, as well as what was at eye level.
The mercury Cloud isn't the only thing that reflects.....
I love these "corncob" apartments. I'm told by a Chicago native that the apartments are triangular, just as you'd expect.
I read that these gazebo-like things on the tops of buildings are called belvederes.
Below, on the left, is my very favorite, the Carbon and Carbide building. The top is decorated with golden accents that look different in every light.
The restaurant was across the river from our hotel.
You can see that the flowers over the river are meant to be seen from the river itself, or from the other side of the river, rather than from the walk behind them.
More reflections. I like the contrast between the square, straight lines of the building, and the wavy lines of the reflections.
More flowers. These are along Wacker.
I'm not much of a pink person, generally, but I love this:
In order to facilitate chronological traverse of these Chicago posts, a link to the next one is here.
