I love cabbages. I love to eat them, plain, raw. I love to eat them in soup. I love to eat them in vinegary slaw, I love to eat sauerkraut. I love to look at cabbages, especially when they still have all the outer leaves that are removed before they are sold. (Thinking of Steve Irwin: ) Aren't they gorgeous?

As with produce, there seemed to be a lot fewer entries in the cooked-stuff categories. I remember jars and jars of beautifully arranged pickles (multiple vegetables, pickled together, with careful arrangements of carrots, red peppers, green beans, etc.). This was the only jar of mixed-color pickles I saw. Even with the manual focus I didn't manage a very clear shot.....

In past years there have been some very interesting fancy decorated cakes. I didn't especially like any of the ones I saw this year. Lots of cookies -- which might be fun to judge, but aren't all that interesting to look at.
I was pretty tired by the time we got to this building, so I'll admit to giving a pretty cursory once-over to most of the crafts. Lots of kit stuff, lots of cutesty stuff. Not my bag.
But look at this afghan! Maybe it was in a magazine, I don't know, but I've never seen anything like it. I hope its creator made it up, herself!
