Did you guess that was flax, yesterday? I've seen flax when it was being turned into linen (an arduous and very time-consuming set of processes!), but I don't remember seeing it with the seed heads still on. All those little globes, each surrounded by a quintet of spikes..... Cool.
Here are two entries in a class for small-ish collections of produce. The first one has more variety. Vegetables, peaches, I think it's honey in the jar on the left, jam in the middle, not sure what is yellow in the jar on the right. I didn't show the whole collection in the pic, as some of the little carrots, etc, were considerably the worse for wear, presumably having been on display for a week or more (those little things hanging down over the hubbard squash, at the top, are shriveled carrots).
My favorite thing in this one collection is the brown wool roving, all ready to spin into yarn. :-)
This entry is far more elegantly arranged. Aren't those curvy little eggplants displayed to perfection? That one tomato against the side of the basket? Beautiful.
What are those very interesting flowerish things at the edge of the basket? Does anyone know? Hops?
