In order to give milk, a cow has to be a mama. These little ones were born only a day or so before we saw them.
This little guy was lying down when we first saw him, but he decided to get up on those long and awkward legs. He worked at that until he succeeded. One of those "because I can" things -- mama is lying down behind him, so no lunch will immediately reward his efforts.
Interesting how a prey animal, which must be ready to flee really soon after birth (and therefore must be very much more capable at birth than a predator newborn), shares a vacant "brand new" look with human infants.
