Kenyon College has a gorgeous brand-new athletic facility. (Note that all these pics were taken on Sunday, which was a beautiful day.)
This facility is ENORMOUS.
One end has this indoor track, with a lacrosse "field" in the center.
With my back to the previous image, I look through to the other end of the building. Basketball court in the foreground, and the pool is on this side at the other end. The dark rectangle on the far white wall, above and just to the right of the person on the basketball court, is the scoreboard for the pool.
In the center of the building, on the second level (where there is access to the spectator area for the pool), is this light sculpture. The colors change.....
On the left is a theatre. The tennis courts are in the far right corner, and there's another basketball court in the center on that side of the building.
The main pool is 10 lanes, and I didn't count how many lanes in the other part of the pool (which is where the diving well is). They have 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Unlike many pools, there is excellent ventilation so spectators aren't too hot. In fact, on Sunday, which was a much chillier day than Thursday, it was too cool. I hope the swimmers were warm enough (keeping wet swimmers warm enough without steaming the spectators is not an easy problem to solve!)......
You can see how much wonderful natural light there is. A very very nice facility! With enough parking. Good job, Kenyon!

nope, the swimmers were cold.

I was afraid of that. I thought people were more dressed up, on deck, than usual.
If anyone has to be uncomfortable, it should surely be the spectators rather than the competitors! :-(
