recent trip -- random facts

There are a lot of mountains between Michigan and North Carolina.

There are a lot of man-made lakes in North Carolina.

The dirt near Charlotte is very red.

No pic for this one -- it is MUCH easier to get unsweetened iced tea in North Carolina (at least in Charlotte) than it is in Ontario, Canada............ My limited sample would say that they tend to have both kinds, in Charlotte, and only sweetened in Ontario..... I mean, ok, we were in south Ontario, which is the extreme south of Canada, but still...... If you want unsweetened iced tea on the road from Windsor (or Detroit) to Toronto, you better ask for hot tea and a glass of ice and make your own.

In Charlotte, you need merely ask for unsweetened iced tea.

Great aerial shots! I recognize them as I used to live in NC. True about "unsweetened tea" also! In Texas it came unsweetened, which I appreciated. In NC, ask. In NH, they ask you "sweet or unsweet?" In other places... why is it so hard?

Thanks!

I don't know if you can even get already-sweetened tea in Michigan. If you ask for iced tea, it's going to be unsweetened.

I was *really* surprised, the last time we drove to Toronto, when I found I could not get unsweetened iced tea. They just didn't have it. When you can add sugar, but not remove it, it seems odd to me to have sweet be the default.....
