As Buzz had adria(mycin) last week (the extra nasty chemo), he was supposed to have a blood count today.
He's been feeling fine. Eating well. (Sometimes, a few days after chemo, he'll only eat if I feed him out of my hand.) Chasing a toy. Jumping on the couch by himself.
He had his blood count today, and all is well.
Michigan State wants him to have abdominal ultrasound and thorasic xrays to look for other nastiness he may have hiding.
I'm not eager for that -- it would be $500 at least, and I'm not sure to what advantage.....
I talked to the vet about that today, and she said we could wait until we were done with the adria (he can only have 5 doses, ever, as it does permanent heart damage......). So that would be two more months to think about it. She feels it would make sense to go back to MSU after he is done with adria, and let them advise as to what we should do next at that point...............
The protocol I was given for him, the first time we went to MSU, said that after 13 weeks he should go off prednisone. That would be this week. I asked about that, too, and she said she thought he should stay on it, as he's not having any apparent symptoms from it.
It would be nice if medicine were a lot closer than it is to the "science" end of the continuum (less close to the "art" end......................).
