mail art

Mail art is all the rage amongst people who do collage.

My first attempt:

This is the outside of a thank-you package to Mom, for taking us to Alaska.

This is the back. The glitter glue looks rather more like a snail trail here than in real life.....

The front is another map, of the continental US (including Alaska). I drew lines on it showing where we came from, where we went, where we ended up..... My arm/hand make a decent compass, I found, at least for shortish circle segments.

I love maps, and I love that I can buy an atlas at the library used-book sale for $1. At that price, they aren't too precious to cut up..... The pages were nice and heavy, too, and didn't buckle when smeared with glue.
