Particularly for those athletes who swam in prelims but won't swim in finals (only the fastest individuals swim in the finals).
Once people are done for the day, they shower and get dressed. They cheer when their teammates are in the pool, but there are often many heats of finals with no teammates in competition.
There is sitting.

There is chatting.

There is fussing-with-hair.

And there is most certainly (and constantly) eating. Consuming enough calories to maintain a healthy weight can be an issue for swimmers in the heat of the season. I used to send peanutbutter cups to high school, with a strict directive to not share them, but to EAT them.............

As I don't blog people (call me paranoid, I don't mind), I'll close my swim meet comments by noting that my kid had a good meet, with personal bests in two events (woohoo!), and I'll leave you with one last image.
A quintessential swim meet shot -- many towels, and many sports drinks.

only 1 best, the 24.6. Are you thinking of the 400 free? I was 54.1 in february. So 54.6 was decent but not a best.
Also, sadly, I would not call this meet good. I would say ok. I had much higher expectations than how I performed.
