road trip

As you may have guessed from my absence yesterday, we were on a road trip. There was a big swim meet in Gambier, Ohio.....

We stayed in the worst motel I've ever had the misfortune to inhabit. I recorded no images -- I felt no need to recall the details.

Suffice it to say that we had to go out and buy towels. And water...........

All of this was due to sloth (not finding a place in good time, but, rather, too late for anything with a brand name) as opposed to penury, so we were stuck........

But it was only two nights, and it was quiet (including the heater, which often drives me nuts with noise noise noise noise in hotel rooms), and the bedding seemed to be clean........... (The towels probably were, too, but stained........... and little and thin..................) The heat worked a treat, and the fridge did, too. It could have been worse.

Internet? Hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha.......................

The other inhabitants all arrived in pick-up trucks, and we suspect they were hunters. Or something. They all departed (with much door-slamming and motor-running) between 5:30 and 6:30 am................. We suspect them of being the source of the stains on the towels -- greasy hands after working on said pick-ups? -- and so had some sympathy for the proprietors. But not much, it was really pretty icky.

At least it was cheap.

I tried the laptop at Kenyon's fantabulous athletic facility, which of course had wireless, but they wanted me to authenticate, alas. So rude -- what about MY needs, after all????

But we're home now, and next year will try to gather the wherewithall to book the very nice Mt. Vernon Comfort Inn (where we stayed last year) in good time.
