Of course the best thing behind the scenes is all the doggers in the benching area, ready to meet their adoring fans.
I am always reminded, at dog shows, how many breeds I enjoy admiring. I don't have a pic of the French bulldog who lay down on my hand as I skritched his ear ("That's what he lives for -- love, and food!"), nor of the Irish wolfhounds I watched getting ready to go in the ring, nor of the Dalmatian I stroked as it went past me down the aisle, but I surely enjoyed getting to be up close and personal with so many wonderful dogs.
This one I got to pet *and* photograph. What a gorgeous face!
Of course there is also shopping to be done. These people are looking at antique dog items. Her vest *does* say "Corgi Russia"....
Compared to a big quilt show, there were very few vendors. The ones there seemed to be doing a brisk business.
In addition to greeting the public and educating same about the breeds, the dogs and exhibitors have to get ready to go into the ring.
The obligatory tv interview with someone grooming a breed with a LOT of coat.
I don't think I've ever seen *this* on tv...........
Can't go into the ring without enticements........
Certainly can't go in without the appropriate footgear!
In order to facilitate chronological traverse of these NYC posts, a link to the next one is here.
