Feb 12 -- Waldorf-Astoria, last night in the city

In retrospect, I wish I'd taken a bunch more "mise en scene" pics at the hotel.

Ah well. I'm good at capturing the bits and pieces that catch my eye, but really have to work at the story-telling, as I'm not thinking of that until later, most times.....

Fancy tile on the floor.

Fancy ceiling in the lobby, with verrrrrry fancy very large clock. I wish I had a pic of the whole thing, in place, but..........

The clock above was embellished with images of Famous Personages, including Queen Victoria.........

Our room was fancy, too. This first pic was taken with ambient light, which was very yellow indeed (incandescent....).

I hardly ever use the flash, but since I could tell these were going to be way too yellow, I opened it up and got some truer color.

These next two were the bed spread.

Our not-fancy-at-all view out the window......

Of course we watched the dog show! My story-telling deserted me almost entirely -- the Pekingese shown here is not the most clear specimen of "dog on tv" I could have chosen, and I am sorry I didn't get any pics of Uno, triumphant.

I think it is very sad that, after Westminster, there is a lot of demand for whichever breed has won the show. Dogs should NOT NOT *NOT* be chosen on the basis of looks! Temperament, energy level, ease of training, amount of grooming -- *any* of these is vastly (VASTLY!) more important than looks..................

Usually what happens is that the puppy mills crank up, people get breeds they should never have, and it's a rescue disaster.

I am SO grateful to Pedigree for pushing rescue so hard in all its ads, and for all its support for rescue.

There are beagles in every shelter in this country.

I SURELY hope that the combination of Pedigree pushing rescue, and Uno's Westminster win, will result in good homes for some of the thousands and thousands of charming adult beagles who *need* families.
