I haven't given a Buzzupdate for a while.
He had a blood chemistry last month, and his kidney values are deteriorating. He has added enalapril and pepcid to his daily regimen, bringing us to four meds every two days. Either leukeran or prednisone in the morning, now with enalapril also. Pepcid at supper time, and another enalapril in the evening with the pumpkin and yogurt.
Whew.
He feels good. Eager to chase a toy, eager to eat.
Today he had vincristine (iv chemo) on top of all of the above. If this goes as it has in the past, he'll be normal for about 30 hours, and then will have three days of not feeling quite right about the tum. I will start his metoclopramide (three times a day, at least 20 min before eating) tomorrow night..............
I guess they had trouble setting the iv for his vincristine today. He's not had vetwrap on two legs before..... It's critical to get the iv set very neatly indeed. The vincristine disrupts DNA replication. It must be administered to the moving bloodstream. If any of it gets outside the vein, it can do very serious damage. So they are verrrrrrry careful to get a nice neat clean set on the iv. Even if that means going after two legs to do it.
