maple update

Here's an update on that maple bud I've been showing you. (Taken yesterday.)





Now look at this -- this one is closer to the trunk; farther along in its development.

I took this pic to show you how big the leaf is, but look! There are seeds in this pic! See the wings, sticking out of the closed-up flower, top center? Also far right, center.

I didn't see those little wings, at all, when I was taking the pic. I need to collect one of those and dissect it (with reading glasses on!). I was wondering how maple-seed-shaped seeds were going to come from all this efflorescence.......
