puzzle pieces

.

Love everything about this. Excellent fabrics throughout. Excellent concept. Excellent design (turning the puzzle pieces slaunchwise? excellent!). Excellent use of contrasting appliqued circles.

All hand-done (is she crazy or what? you can see from the music stand in front that this thing is huge....).

Each puzzle piece is one whole piece of fabric, necessitating a lot of fussy sewing to hitch one to the next.

Note circles in quilting, speaking to appliqued circles......

Lots of times I look at a quilt and think "I like it, but I wish she had ..." Used a different fabric for the border. Not used so much white. Etc.

My quilt-show buddy and I agree -- nothing to find fault with here. The border fabric is just emphatic enough to hold its own, but not overpower the rest. The fabric used for the binding and the phony sashing ("sashing" appliqued over the pieced top) brings in all the colors, but is different enough in value to stand out just enough (and it's the perfect width).

Nice work. Jo Barry.
