Here's a series that is sort of the opposite of yesterday's rose.
Instead of a bunch of attempts at one final image, here are a bunch of reasonable images all cut from one original.
Original. Note I stood over the flower to shade it. I'm really not fond of full sun in this sort of pic.

Let's have a look at that interesting bug. Black and white with neon green? Excellent. I don't remember ever seeing one like this before.

A closer look. This bug had a lot of pollen on its hind legs.....

Now let's look at the nice spikey bud on the left.

Pretty much the same; tighter crop.

What if we get this same part of the image (mostly) but have a horizontal skinnier rectangle?

Now let's highlight those overlapping petals.

How about the other side of the flower, with missing petals and the bug parallel to the lonesome petal?

Which one do I like best?
None of these really gives me the old "OH yeah," but if I had to pick I think I'd go for the square one that closes in on the overlapped petals.
