messing with a rose

.

I like these "life cycle" pics, which show buds, flowers-in-their-prime, and spent flowers.

But the thing that grabbed me, when I saw it on the "big screen," was the leaf right next to the flower in its prime. The curves.................

So that's what I wanted to isolate.

Here's the original.

First attempt at crop. Ok.

Not quite so close. Ok. Don't like this any better than the prev.

Tilt? Not. Don't like this one.

Even closer? Yup. Like this one.

I think the irregularities in the petal nearest the top are distracting. I like the way the leaf really stands out in this version of the image.

Look back at the original. Cropping is all I did -- doesn't it make a huge difference? From "ho hum, another rose," to "OH yeah"..............

Nice progression.
It went from walking into the door of the dancehall and seeing everybody there, to picking out that one person you'll dance with all night...

Love your verbal image of the process!
