Ruffles. Isn't it interesting how much darker the bud is?
Yellow iris is often pale and with smaller flowers. Not this one. Fully saturated, and as large as any iris I've seen.
I was thinking I should show you the leaves, and only then did I notice the one wrapped around the others....

I know iris are not noted for fragrance, but when they do have scent, it is a lovely sweet experience.
