June 11

.

The 11th began wet. Very wet. Rain bucketed right down at 7:00 am, and it was still raining when I arrived in my office.

Reflections on my office window.

By lunch time it had cleared, and, hallelujah, the humidity was down, and the temp was pleasant.

Here is the building I worked in when I first started at the U, in a puddle. All the part that looks like faceless blackness is windows.... I had a wonderful view out to the west.

On the way back to work after lunch, I walked down a one-block street I don't always frequent.

Amazing how much there is to see, even on one block....

Catalpas are not shy. They are full-size trees with big heart-shaped leaves, big flowers (and lots of them!) and big seed pods. See the long dark vertical hanging thingies? Those are last year's seed pods.

Nice day, eh?

Student housing, with ivy and lace curtains.

Majorly serious vine-age on a tree. This stuff has been growing here for a looooong time. Check out the diameter of some of the vines!

English ivy.

Virginia creeper.

"Horseshoe nail" decoration on student housing.

Peonies.

Roses.

See the red thorns?

More red, white, and green.

Poison ivy.

Back in my office after lunch. Great sky, eh? You've seen this tree on the horizon, bare in winter, against a sunset sky. Here it is, in early summer.

Generally speaking, I am not a fan of harsh sunlight and the resulting shadows.

Some exceptions on my office windowsill caught my eye on the 11th.......

Dried up narcissus bulbs.

I am liking seeing the original in the pic, as well as the shadow.....
