July 5th was a gorgeous day.
Master of all he surveys.
Well, master of his stinky brother, at least.
I am grateful that Wilbur takes this humble attitude. If his reply was "You are not the boss of me!" we would have fights..........
Gotta watch that Wilbur every minute.....
Hey! Whatzat in the neighbor's yard?
Nevermind. It's under control.
Some of the chokecherry detritus left over from the storm on the 2nd. I didn't think to take this inside and photograph it with seriously from-the-side light, so you could really see the three-dimensionality of the red ex-flower-thingies. Maybe next time.....
My overseer takes his job very seriously.
Look what's growing in the front yard! Doesn't it look almost exactly like a perfectly toasted marshmallow?
Another one -- they look cool from the top, too.
I wonder why it's ok, evolutionarily speaking, for their surface to crack like this. It seems like it would let in ... bacteria? other fungi? something ... that would prey on its innards......
