helpful tips

.

This weekend, aside from taking stuff to the Kiwanis, all the cleaning was outdoors. (Well, I did scrub out the tub, yawn.)

It's hard to take pics when you are raking, or cleaning out the gutters, so you'll just have to use your imagination.

The tip for this week is -- rake and clean out the gutters *before* it freezes.

It was warmer on Sunday than it had been for nearly two weeks. It was warm enough that the leaves on the ground were wet rather than frozen, and warm enough that it was possible to get the frozen partially-composted leaves out of the gutters, even on the north side of the garage where they were considerably more frozen than on the south side (and covered with snow/ice).

I used my heavy-duty blue rubber gloves (you saw them when I was pulling nettles). I bought them for gutter-cleaning, but they worked fine for nettle-eradication, too.

Heavy-duty rubber gloves do not do much to keep your hands warm when handling snow and/or frozen leaves, which is another good reason to do this before it freezes.....
