I need to remember that I can take pics from a moving car in town, too.
This one isn't what one could call "sharp," but you can see the trim and its colors. Mt. Vernon has a plethora of houses with a lot of trim, most of which seemed to be in very nice shape.
(This pic taken Saturday, but fits better into Sunday's story.....)
Sunday was bright and blue.
Mt. Vernon is a very pretty little town. The commercial buildings, like the houses, seemed mostly to be embellished and well cared for.
Gambier Street is, indeed, the way to Gambier.
You can see the roundabout a block farther north.....
Not sure of the function of this building, but I like its arched windows, and the fancy "hold up the roof" thingies. Also the color; extra nice with the white trim.
Good bye, Mt. Vernon.
After visiting three years in a row, it seems sort of weird that we'll probably never be back.
Red is such a nice color for barns..........
Sycamores, in front of ... some other kind(s) of trees.
Up and down and side to side..........
I like the shadow of the fence......
This one shows lots of dips in the road. Who needs a roller coaster, when one has Ohio 229?
Red, nice with blue.
More snowy fields.
An expression of frustration with my working conditions. The roads were wet enough that the windows stayed clean for about 3.2 seconds. And the bright day led to lots of reflections. Between the speed at which we traveled, the mess on the outside of the windows, and the reflections on the inside of the windows, it's amazing that any of these came out at all!
Nest of propane tanks. You can see the queen in the back, and the larvae on the side. I don't know where all the workers are........
Hay bales. I'm trying to be ok that the nearest one is quite blurry, but not quite succeeding.
Corn field, with blurry teasel in foreground.
We have arrived in Ashley, Ohio. Another town (much smaller than Mt. Vernon) with fancy houses, well maintained.
I wonder if this one had the roof whacked off, and another story added in between the roof and the ground floor. The second story is so plain......
This is the sort of thing I can enthusiastically enjoy, but surely surely would not want to maintain.
This, taken through the car and across the driver, is more my style. Love brick (no painting!), love the trim, love the tall windows, love the bay, love the two blue stars on the second story.....
Downtown Ashley.
I like this clean-lined nearby building, and I like the house with the bays, too.
Lots of Ohio is very flat indeed, in sharp contrast to the area around Mt. Vernon and Gambier.
You don't need to go to Wyoming to get Big Sky................
(note reflection in upper left, sigh!)

What gorgeous farmland!! Loved all the pics and fancy homes in town too.
You have to watch out for those propane workers....they could have been sneaking up on you while you were snapping that pic! You know they like to keep their nests protected from paparazzi! :)
Thank you for the trip through Ohio. When I lived there I showed dogs and wandered to every county fairground for shows. The smaller towns are so charming.
Thanks!
Wrensong, I never thought that the workers might have been approaching from across the street! Good thing we didn't linger at that intersection! :-)
Penni, you are most welcome. Some of the small towns we went through didn't seem as prosperous. I do enjoy looking at all the fancy trim, especially when people are clearly taking care of it.....
