From my office window. I liked the tire tracks....

Big tree on horizon.

At 2:30 I walked over to Health Service for an eye check-up.
Wow, some real *color* in the winter landscape!

I bet this is a crabapple tree. It is between Health Service and the Dental School. Loooooove the color. This is exactly as the camera and I remember it.

I wondered if I was going to seriously regret having this eye appt. in January, when a sunny day is magnified by the snow, and walking around with one's eyes dilated can be painful and dangerous.
I always get the last appt. of the day (since I can't see to do anything afterward!), and it was dark enough when I left Health Service that walking was fine. Good.
I caught the bus home, and spotted this house-with-matching-sky as I walked from away from the bus stop.

"They say" that the dilation drugs wear off quickly, but that is not my experience....

At least it was a good appt -- all is well. And, amazingly, he has quit telling me that "next time" I will need bifocals. (He said that 6 or 8 appts in a row!)
I can still see just fine to read, thankyouverymuch, and apparently I will continue to be able to do so. YAY. I need glasses to see anything farther away than about 5 feet crisp and clear. I can see, but things are just not sharp. I can see a little thing moving across the road, but may not be able to tell if it's a leaf or a mouse..... And I can't read signs at a distance, so..... I have glasses for distance.
I need new ones; the old ones are getting a bit shopworn, alas.
I looked at some frames on the 8th, but did not commit to a purchase.

Oh, those crabapples are beautiful! I just heard about a great crabapple, called prarie fire crabapple, that I think I'm going to try and find and plant this year.
Crabapples are really very nice little trees. Nice flowers, and the fruit and be so nice.... This is the first one I've seen that was still so bright at this time of year.....
