Leslie asked me what I would do with an "economic stimulus" windfall.
Hmmm. So many ways to think about this. First thought is -- "Save it, and retire sooner!"
But if I'm going to be patriotic and spend it.....
If I'm spending it on us, I think I'll go for new windows. Energy efficiency, and try to find some that are made in the USA. Put local people to work installing them.
My other choice is ... vasectomy scholarships. Planned Parenthood will spend your money any way you direct.
I read a cartoon one time that had someone in a restaurant being seriously disturbed by someone else's out-of-control kid. Eventually the person who was disturbed sent the other table a bottle of cheap wine and a vasectomy.
I was struck by the brilliance of this idea. Forget the wine, pay for the vasectomy.
I have paid for many vasectomies, over time.
I surely think that someone who doesn't want to be a parent should not be one!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I guess that's my final answer. It's good for everyone, it's in support of local people, it keeps the money (and the immediate benefit) in my community......
Update -- unfortunately I don't get to decide who should get the vasectomies. I would buy a lot more of them if I got to choose!

LMAO!
"...unfortunately I don't get to decide..."
Hahahahahahah!!!
Very wise choices, grasshopper.
You do get the gist of the thing by wanting windows made in the US, installed by locals.
Hahahahahahvasectomyscholarships. What a great idea!
When it is my turn to be god, no one with an IQ below the mean shall be allowed to reproduce. Nor anyone who is nasty, or irresponsible, or....
I mentioned this to a friend one time who told me I'd have a hell of an enforcement problem. Not.
*god*, I said, not "ruler".........
:-)
When I saw the cartoon, my first thought was that it was very funny, and then I began to realize that it was actually doable. Eminently doable. So I thought publishing it might get other people thinking, and maybe we can help some more people who don't want to be parents to not be.
If only I got to choose...... :-)
As for the windows, I thought that fit, all around. Makes my carbon footprint smaller, as well as supporting window-makers and installers..........
