I finally managed to tear myself away from Midnight Skies.
I walked all the way through, and then walked across the footbridge.
I discovered that there were animations that would let me swim! I had never seen anything like that before! I had to change -- it just seemed Wrong to be swimming in my clothes and shoes!
Unfortunately, it took over what would have been my walking animation, and I couldn't take pics of myself in action. I could choose which stroke, and it did a beliveable breast stroke, and freestyle (I didn't look at what else; I'll have to go back). I have to say that the freestyle must have been paced for a very long distance; I hardly kicked at all.
I went really fast, though.
Here I am treading water, looking back at Midnight Skies.
To leave an animation, you typically "stand up."
I did, and promptly sank to the bottom.
Which is a good thing -- look what I got to see next!
I flew up out of the water, and found an animation for floating. This must be verrrrry salty water.........
Time to shower off the salt. (My first SL shower!)
I walked away from the shore, and saw this hammock.
Getting up there is no problem if you can fly......... See me in the hammock, just above the bigger pink tree on the right?
I am now near the corner of this up-in-the-tree platform that is nearest to the hammock.
I wish I could "show" you the sounds. This wind chime is one of the nicest I've ever heard. Ever. Not just in SL.
I could hear it clearly from the hammock.
Exploring this tree house. (Well it's not a house, but you know what I mean.)
Look, it's raining. It never rains except when someone makes it rain. I think this is my first SL rain.
Floating a bit above a cushion on a transparent floor.
The animations are sort of iffy sometimes -- they don't know exactly how big you are, so you may float rather than sitting firmly *on* something, or you may pour your coffee on your nose (rather than into your mouth), etc........... I picked up "herbal tea" once that had me shoving the can of tea right into my left eye........ Ouch. I deleted that one!
I was starting to feel a bit undressed as I got farther from the shore, so I went back to Wolverine and changed back into my usual clothes. Only I shortened the sleeves as long ones seemed like too much for the mild Georgia weather.
I left myself a landmark in the middle of Midnight Skies.
Here it is in the gathering darkness.
You can see me, teensy, having flown up just above it. I sent the camera way up above to get this shot.
How excellent. I didn't realize before that all the ball things are not just in the main cylinder. I love this more and more................
I looked around from way up there, and saw some more art by the same person who made Midnight Skies.
I like this, too, but not as much as Midnight Skies.
The effect of these is really seriously diminished when all I can show you is a few stills. Really, you need to go see for yourselves. :-)
And the excellent thing about SL is that you CAN. Right there from the comfort and privacy of your own chair!
