Wilbur, with sun and shadow

.

Really wish I'd grabbed those sweatpants off the couch before snapping the pic.....

Wilbur and I both had excursions of the medical kind yesterday.

He developed a gooey eye, so we went to get that looked at. We met a new vet at our regular practice, who seems like a very nice young woman.

She stained his eye and could not see any evidence of a problem with his cornea, so we have antibiotic ointment for him. Sophie had eye infections at least twice and maybe three times, and Buzz did once, all with no lingering consequences, so we'll hope for that for Burt, too. I believe his eye is less bloodshot than this morning, which seems like a good sign.

Then I went to the dentist (yet again, sheesh) and had the work done to get going on having two partial crowns. They tell me that I clench and/or grind something fierce in the middle of the night when I am all unaware, and that one of my bottom right molars had a nasty crack and the other had less serious cracks, and that fixing the one was Necessary and the other, Desirable.

I seriously hate local anesthetic, which always seems to be very painful when applied, so I decided to do them both at once rather than have to face doing it again.

At least this is the last Known Issue.............

I have temporaries, and go back next month for the permanent crowns. And it was actually less painful than I had expected. Huzzah.

Still no fun to have someone grinding away inside your head. The smells. The tastes. The drill's high-pitched squeals. The vibration. The detritus, flying.

Ick. (Can you hear the music from Little Shop of Horrors in the background?)

Ok. Deep breath.

My dentist is a nice man, and the other people at the practice are nice, too. I try not to blame them, even to myself inside my head, for doing these things to me........ I tried to think of it as care being taken of me, as I lay back with my eyes closed and my mouth wide open............

I even sort of succeeded, part of the time.

But if I get to have care taken of me, I'd much rather have accupuncture. Or massage. Trying not to think of how many massages I could get for what I spent today! !!!

Ok. It's over. Walking away.................

My better half had thoughtfully laid in ice cream for me, so I came home, had ice cream, and went to bed with a novel.

For two medical visits in one six-hour period, things could have been a lot worse.

I'm holding that thought.
