Yesterday I thought I'd better hold off as long as I could on the switch to twice-a-day rimadyl. I didn't want to give it to him at 3:00 pm and have him be uncomfortable and wakeful at 3:00 am.
It seemed that he didn't feel *too* bad yesterday -- he was alert and interested.
And shivering. All day. Hard enough to move his legs when he was lying on his side.
Except when he was on a walk.......... Then he didn't shiver.
He usually loves to be covered with a blanket, but not yesterday. He'd get up and walk away almost immediately.
We had chili and rice for dinner. I fed him as soon as the rice was done. I had given him all the chicken out of my canned chicken-and-wild-rice soup in the afternoon, so I gave him white rice with a tablespoon or so of canned pumpkin and enough water to cool it down to body temp. And his Claritin, his doxycycline, his baytril and his rimadyl.
It took him an hour to quit shivering, but he did quit.
This morning we all slept until 7:30. I woke him up. He was not shivering; he was curled up about as I would expect when the room is cool.
I went downstairs to dish out his breakfast rice. And his doxy and his rimadyl.
He came down when he heard me with the pill bottle. Very alert and interested, tail up.
After he ate, he went out to pee, tail up, trotting back to the house after.
So far, so good................

Good news -- hopefully he is on the mend!
Holding the right thought . . .
Thanks!
He seems more normal today than he has in over a week. I'll take it!
