Bordeaux

.

Safely arrived in Bordeaux. The train was late, but we had no connections, so it didn't matter to us.

It is 20 degrees (F) cooler here, cloudy and drizzly. Quite a relief after yesterday. Our hotel is very nice and in a very nice area (taxied through some sketchy areas between here and the train station....). RIGHT in the center of things. We have been to the tourist office to arrange a wine tasting, have seen some of the major squares (and some of the cows -- one of those "public art" things where they make a whole bunch of large fiberglas critters and various artists embellish them), and have seen the river and a batch of public monuments.

The foodie is scouting out dinner...... I came back to make use of our own nice clean facilities.........

Last night I managed to triage all the pics. I've been here for a week, almost, and it's comforting to realize that I have plenty of storage for pics (and if I don't wnat to throw one out when two look almost identical, that's ok; I have enough room to keep them both until I have a screen larger than this lovely and SO welcome netbook's -- THANK YOU, LAURIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) ).

One day I will show you all these things I am talking about, and will talk less.....................

ps -- did you know that everyone speaks French here? Everyone. Even the little kids. Even the little kids whose origins are clearly from other continents. Even on tv!!!! I haven't gotten used to it yet............

In order to facilitate chronological traverse of these posts, here is a link to the post that comes after this one.

Hey, glad that the netbook is coming in handy! Looking forward to seeing the pics and glad that you are able to post some updates.

Speaking French in France - sounds right to me :-)

A week went by fast, eh? L

How anyone manages to travel without a computer I don't know..... So many things we need to figure out each day.......

Yeah, pretty fast! Seems like each day takes a long time, because we're doing so much, but that the time flies by......

The French-speaking thing -- one of those things like flipping the light switch when you know the power is out. Some parts of your brain know, and others are surprised..... :-)

THanks, Penni. :-) One of these days (but at this point I"m thinking probably not until I get home......)
