On our way to Paris. It's a quick trip; about an hour on the Train à Grande Vitesse (literally Fast Train).
I like the stripes in this harvested field.
I don't think I've ever seen a half-timbered building in the USA.
Windmills not unique to the south of France.
Here we are in Paris.
Eyes peeled for monuments -- the generally-low height of buildings in central Paris means we can see familiar structures from the train, if we watch for them.
Nice-looking buildings. I haven't stood outside while a French train went by. I didn't think they were terribly noisy inside, so maybe these apartments aren't unbearably noisy.
We switched from the train to the Metro, checked in to our hotel, left our stuff, and headed out.
Sculpture at La Place de la Nation, which was the Metro stop for our hotel.
Walking down the hill toward some of my daughter's haunts from her time here in 2008.
Cute kiddie shoes in a shop window.
Love the tile.......
Hmm. What have we here?
This was the demonstration against the deportation of Roma people that I talked about when we were there.
There were a lot of people, but everything we saw was entirely peaceful. Lots of women (of all ages), many people with little kids in tow.
