We decided to eat in the restaurant at the top of the hotel.
The Humana building. I stood under that pointy glass roof over the entry, and took a pic straight up, a few days ago.
Wondering what's up with this sticky-out stuff near the top.....
You'll recall that the performing arts center is across Main Street from the Humana building.
This is the back of the performing arts center.
Downtown Louisville is pretty compact. You can see the giant bat at the Louisville Slugger museum in the top right corner.
Between the performing arts center and the river is a park.... And the expressway.
(Slugger giant bat visible at left.)
The two disks that make up most of the restaurant have spinning floors, so a diner's view changes ever several seconds. I wasn't aware of motion, but it moved pretty quickly.
Barges, approaching the lock.
More Blue Dog Bakery bread. Yum.
With a bit of everything -- butter, olive oil, pesto, roasted garlic, parmesan.....
Falafel. Fine, but not great.
A bit odd to have no pita, I thought. Everything was fried, except the olive smeared on the plate and about a teaspoon of pickle in that artichoke heart on top.
Everything tasted good, but it was on the greasy side. I'd have been happier to have more pickle and less fried stuff. Vinegar. Bring on the vinegar.
Now this, on the other hand, was very good indeed. Chicken breast, wrapped around smoked mozzarella and arugula, and wrapped, itsownself, in country ham (which was as smoky as bacon). On white-cheddar grits, and, alas, I can't remember what the sauce was (it was more than "just gravy" -- gravy with wine, maybe?).
All the parts were good, and together..... Together, with the creaminess of the grits adding to the smoky chicken bites..... Mmmmmmm.
To a northerner, this seemed different and foreign and very good. So glad I got to have some of this.
It did rain, that evening, but luckily it wasn't too hazy. We could still see a good long distance.
I liked the clouds.
In order to facilitate reading the Louisville posts in chronological order, I have put a link at the end of each post to the next one. The post after this one is here.
