Walking back west, toward the hotel.
I mentioned the hotel was in the airport's flight path.....
More *large* wooden debris.
The water has gone down a lot, while we've been here, but still has a good way to go.
This is what a lot of downtown Louisville looks like.
It looks like they are trying, but it's ... empty.
Dumpster full of wood. And no people at all..........
Metal things, addressing the river in their various ways.
Wood under the expressway.
Closeup of blue dot visible above.
We looked at interesting pavement many times, in France.
They have some in Louisville, too.
River Road, almost ready to be Road again, rather than River.
This is the same blue sign we've looked at before, but never from this level. The first time I took its pic, only the top two lines of writing were visible above the water.
Looking to our right, just a little. This is one of the "historical marker" signs that was nearly totally submerged, a few days ago.
I want to go up these stairs.
Trying to decide if I can just walk around the railing and go up, if I time my steps in re the waves.....
I decide -- no.
So I step on the concrete that's supporting the railing, and swing around the bottom of the railing, onto the bottom step.
On the right, you can see the same steps/railings as above (as well as the blue sign and the historical-marker signs). The water has gone down a lot since we arrived, and still has a ways to go.
This muddy ground is very close to the place where the ducks swam, a couple of days ago.
Fourth Street meets River Road.
Closeup of above -- the way to Lexington and Cincinnati is the way we'll go home in a couple of days.
Still cleaning up.
I'm not sure if his point was to move water (as he clearly was doing), or if he was looking for debris under the water, or.....
In order to facilitate reading the Louisville posts in chronological order, I have put a link at the end of each post to the next one. The post after this one is here.
