Dogwood didn't really do too well this year, around here. Most of the trees looked kinda pitiful.
Here's one of the happy ones.
Mother Nature's "more is better" plan.
One maple tree's failed attempts at procreation.
These made it way beyond the flower stage, but the actual seeds are undeveloped.
Another happy dogwood.
Wisteria is lovely.
And determined and large. If we wish to properly keep it, we'll build it a VERY sturdy structure to climb on, and we'll be vigilant about containing its spread.
The people who owned the house next door planted it (and English ivy!) immediately before they sold the house and moved elsewhere.
The wisteria (and the ivy, alas) are still expanding.
This isn't my (trashy) Siberian elm tree. It's considerably higher than the two-story house it is very close to. It's full of wisteria, and hangs over our driveway.
Wisteria smells very good.
And is very pretty.
Fallen flowers, on the driveway.
I said that the week of the teens was gray and damp, but not full of deluges.
The week of the twenties was full of deluges. Not steady ones, but sporadic ones. Sporadic ones heavy enough that one day we got four inches of rain, and heavy enough that this is now officially the wettest spring on record.
Walking, again, in between deluges.
This maple seed has enough oomph to make a tree, I bet.

Some budding scientist needs to hook up with some budding engineer to figure out how to disburse water from where it is not needed to where it is. We have had one day of (very light) rain in the past three months. New Mexico is officially in a drought. It is hot and dry and dusty.
I always think that if we all got the weather that was "average" for where we are, we'd all be better off!
"Average" Ann Arbor weather is about perfect, in my estimation! Never lower than 20, never higher than low 80s, the right amount of precip.......
Unfortunately, given mankind's record in re Messing With Mother Nature, I fear that any attempts to alter the weather will cause more disasters than it will cure.....
Surely wish we could share all this water with you!
