July 12

.

On the 12th, we had a landscaping crew doing destruction/construction in the front yard.

The supervisor was momentarily distracted when I picked up the camera.

Getting donuts for the workers.  Another nice day!

Stopping for yogurt on the way home.

The cheerfully-painted front window of Arbor Farms, where they sell goat yogurt.  I hadn't had any goat yogurt since I left France.  Mmmm.

Some of my daylilies were lost in the destruction.  I picked their flowers the night before, and put them in a bottle in the kitchen.

Many (35?) years ago, I picked up a carafe-shaped wine bottle outside the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC. The Hirshhorn is part of the Smithsonian, and houses 20th Century art. One can eat, and imbibe, outdoors in the middle of the museum (click the link above to WikiPedia's page, and scroll down for some images of the outside of the museum).

I didn't have wine, all those years ago. Someone else abandoned the bottle. I picked it up, brought it home, and have put flowers in it ever since.

My favorite kind of souvenir!  Well, right after postcards, my favorite.  Something useful, and ephemeral, picked up and brought home for display and/or use.....

These daylilies were in that DC-souvenir bottle.
