Not as hot as the 21st was, thank goodness, but still hot and humid.
Out for our evening walks.
Datura. I love the way the buds unfurl.
Pear. This one was about 2.5 inches from stem to stern(?).
Daylilies.
Pine needles. That is to say, evergreen needles. The previous day's bit of rain had them all lined up....
Daylilies.
Same flower. I wanted to emphasize the curves of the petals, so I got a close up. The colors in the closeup are remarkably different from the non-closeup above. The camera captured them differently. The pic above is the way I remember the flower, but I like the colors in this next image, too.
When people say, smugly, that their pictures are just as the camera took them, I always wonder what on earth they mean. I mean, ok, they mean that there was no post-processing. But do they think that the camera magically remembers the colors better than they do? I guess, maybe, it remembers them better than *they* do, but it certainly doesn't remember them better than *I* do.......
My cameras do a very good job of showing, on the view screen, exactly what they are going to capture, color-wise. Many times I can see, looking at the screen and at the original, *at the same time*, that the color on the screen is NOT the same as the original item.
So why anyone is proud of displaying exactly what the camera captured, I never know. Maybe what the camera remembers is what I saw, maybe not......
This camera captures this, that one captures that. This has been true from ancient (film) days. Some films were better for greens, some for other colors......
I wish we could all agree that the important thing is an interesting image, whether it is just as the camera remembers the original, or not.
Interesting sky, that evening. We really need more rain, and really want it to truly cool off, so more clouds and a more threatening sky would have been welcome.

You go, girl .... I vote for your eyes over machinery any day.; -)
:-) Thanks for the vote of confidence! :-)
So glad you stopped by!!!!!! Have you rejoined the blogosphere yet? I want to read your new blog, when you get going. :-)
I want to see all the pics of your new condo, views from your deck in every sort of light, etc, etc. :-)
Thanks! I am planning on jumping back in Aug 15. It's when meetings start for the fall semester, so I figure that's as good a time as any for a new beginning.
Your photo wishes shall be my command... although the light down here is predicted to be harsh and brutal for the forseeable future (mid-to high 100's next week. Boo hoo).
I just got back from a month in St. Louis, and, oh, how I miss the green. The rain. Yes, even the humidity.
Hooray! I'll be happy to be able to stop by again. :-)
Harsh and brutal light is not my favorite!
I am not at all good at just taking things as they are (rather than railing against them, when they don't suit me).
I do try, though, when I'm taking pictures. I try to say to myself "Ok, it is what it is, what can we do with it?"
And, of course, I may do a large amount of post-processing. :-) :-) :-)
I would seriously miss green, too. Sort of like winter, I guess -- a burnt-out summer can be awfully monochromatic....... We were getting pretty brown around here, too. After a very wet spring, we had a dry four weeks, from the end of June up to this last week. Things look better now than a week ago!
Humidity. That I can't see myself missing. Even though it comes hand in hand with green.........
:-)
