August 25

.

There has been a sea change, in the last couple of weeks, in the way I am viewing the weather.

We are no longer making our sticky way through the heat and the heart of the summer.

Fall is making its imminent arrival felt.

This leaf has been stepped on, and snacked on by some sort of bug. This summer's heat left me feeling downtrodden, and I, too, have been chewed on by predatory bugs.

I am ready for it to be fall.

Lawn-extension garden on Fifth Ave.  I love sweet alyssum, and zinnias.....

I have no idea what this is.  I didn't see the little stars in person, but love them.....

Dahlias.  Love the black stems.  Love the greeny-yellow with the hot pink.

Different crop of the above.

Yet another crop of the same image.

Love the colors and the embellishment.

The Red Shoes is getting prepped for a new paint job.

We'll concentrate on her excellent plantings.

A bit further north on Ashley.  This was more orange in person than the camera recorded.  !!!

I've seen pink coneflowers.  I've seen white coneflowers.  I've even seen green coneflowers.  But until the 25th, I'd never seen golden/orange coneflowers!

For some reason I struggle, every year, to get a crisp clear shot of the center of a coneflower.  Finally, for 2011............

Collections of succulents, at Downtown Home & Garden.

Love them...........

Walking on.  Sedum "Autumn Joy" in another lawn-extension garden.

There were lots of these little bees busily working over the sedum.  They were about half an inch long.

Isn't it amazing what a little, cheap, camera can do!  (Closer crop of the above.)   Those Panasonic engineers do amazing things.

Another decorated house.

Strawflowers?  Not sure......

Totally delicious blueberry muffins.  Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
