Zingerman's Deli is in the same building which housed it when it began, 30 years ago.
They have always been particular about graphic design. I love this sign (on the side of the building that faces Next Door, where we enjoy pastry and coffee, seen in my last post), and I love the vine and shadow, too.
I am boggled by the amount of work that goes on in the Bakehouse. Not only did they make all the pastries and desserts in the previous post, but they make a ton of breads, coffee cakes, cookies, brownies......
A few of the aforementioned coffee cakes.....
The deli does sell sandwiches and other prepared foods, and they also sell the makings.
Cheese,
cheese,
cheese,
cheese,
cheese,
and more cheese! And you can taste anything you want to taste!
We went home with some parmigiano, to be combined with the puff pastry that came home from the class at the bake house. They tasted some puff pastry with parmigiano and pepper, during the class, and I'm told it was outstanding. I'm looking forward to trying some!
We tried a couple of olive oils from the same family, one made with younger olives, and one made with olives that had fermented a bit. I thought the young one was greener and ... younger, and thought both of them were very good indeed.
Then we headed toward home.
The cute little house that is next door to my first house, with her lovely matching crab apple. The houses were identical twins, when built, but have morphed a bit over the last century or so.
The Saturday errands were next on the to-do list.
The pond east of the library, with wind ripples.
Red-winged blackbird, on the other side of the pond.
Later. Home, walking. Grass seed, and shadows.

The side entrance of the Deli that you reference is a replica of my middle school in Detroit, Emma Hampton Junior High. The script is my wife's (Lori Saginaw) hand writing which was our original logo.
Interesting! Clearly designed by an architect with an eye for volume, balance, and interesting details. I love that it is mostly plain, but has the triangle and
those decorative balls..... :-)
Lori has lovely handwriting. I've always liked it, without knowing whose it was.
I like the Delicatessen in small letters, too.
And the lacy ephemeral vine (and even more ephemeral shadow) on that for-the-ages gray........
Love it.
Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the eddification. :-)
