April 21 -- Zingerman's Next Door

.

Zingerman's Deli and the house next door, where they serve up sweets of all kinds, and the coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to accompany the treats, are less than a block from the farmers' market.

We decided to stop in for a pastry and coffee.

They have everything.

If you are in the mood for a savory, rather than a sweet, they are there.

I am taken by the way you can see the layers, in the steam vents.

If goose fat and cabbage strudel is too exotic, how about PB&J, or a baguette with something tasty?

Or maybe you were thinking of dessert?

O my.  Mmmmmmmmmm.

Be still my heart.  Are these not the cutest pastries you ever saw?

I note that I am not the biggest fan of meringue, nor is lemon at the top of my dessert preference list, but these are SO pretty.  If they would last forever (and not attract bugs or rodents), I would love to put one on the wall......

What did we have?  Bostok.  My daughter had heard this was yummy, and it certainly was.

Bostok, with a coffee and a capucino, and a pain au chocolat to go.

Love the shape of the cup....

Not too sweet, very flavorful.  It wouldn't have been my choice, but it was very good indeed.  It's nice to let someone else choose, sometimes.  Our horizons can be broadened....

We enjoyed our bostok, and our coffee.  I had their Anniversary Blend, which was tasty.  Sometimes coffee leaves a nasty taste in my mouth, but this was very nice.  Many tones and overtones, and no nasty taste.  I drank it as it came (no sugar or cream), and was glad to have done so.

We chatted, and we enjoyed the ambience.

Lighting embellished with a brioche pan and a tart pan.

We appreciated the sartorial splendor of our sister shoppers.

In time, our bostok was gone, and so was our coffee.

It was strangely uncrowded, on the 21st, so I grabbed the opportunity to take pics....

I have it on very good authority that these are delicious.....

One of each, please.
