May 11

.

 Geranium.

Alium.

A blurry pic, but the only one I've taken this year that shows the habit.  A rosette of leaves near the ground, and a tall sturdy stalk, with an explosion of bloom at the top.

You can see buds, down inside, waiting for their turn to bloom.

Ever since my first corgi backed out of her collar, once upon a time, I have walked dogs using slip collars.  I wondered if part of Wilbur's pokeyness might be attributable to the collar, perhaps tight around his throat, so I bought him a harness.

I don't think it has made a difference.

I have taken to carrying a book with me, so he doesn't drive me mad with his  s__l__o__w  pace.  I started with The Emerald City of Oz.  On the first day, we walked two (2) blocks, and I read 53 pages.  !!!

I believe I am paying close enough attention to him that I notice every time he produces something I need to pick up.  I fervently hope that is true; I surely don't want to be leaving anything for anyone else to find!

what a good idea - both of you are content (though I can relate to your frustration, being a dogowner myself)!

I am much less impatient if I've walked me, first, so I can go as fast and as far as I want. Then I get him, and we have our leisurely stroll around the block. Having the book makes it possible for me to be even more patient.

I used to wonder why people who had dogs took walks without the dogs....

Now I know! :-)
