May 26

.

On the 26th we finally got some rain!

Despite the rain, the market was very crowded with shoppers.  We bought spinach, salad greens, and asparagus, and then went to Zingerman's Next Door for a beverage and a treat.

I've never had this, but I bet it's good.

Can't resist taking pics of these.........

I like their funky design aesthetic...........

Coffee and a cheddar scone.  The scone was really tasty.  I like something savory for breakfast as much as I like something sweet.

Love the clear coffee cup and its reflection......

Yum.  Wish I had one right now!

Another member of our party had this.  Isn't it gorgeous!  Love that cinnamony spiral.

We sat upstairs, and I was right by the window.  You can see it is raining right down.

Unfortunately our co-diners were awfully loud that morning.  We finished and left, and went back to the market for a bouquet of peonies.

Everyone must have gone over to Zingerman's; the market was much quieter when we went back through.

I'll have one of everything, please.  And 6 dozen of the basil plants.

Love this iris.

Closeup of above petunias.

Gorgeous lettuce.

Love when they have a lot of info to help people choose.....

Wet squirrel, with mohawk.  It is staying out of the rain, in one of the spots where Clarissa and Bo labored for so many weeks.  This is an easy place for a bird to get to; we're not sure how a squirrel managed it.

The baby I put back in the nest on Thursday was still there on Saturday.  Yay.

We have vegetables growing, for the first time in many years.  I don't know if we have enough sunshine.  They are beside the driveway, which is our sunniest spot, but.....

Pea flowers!

Later in the day.  No more rain.  Walking.

Peony.

Excellent sky.

Another peony, seen above daylily foliage.

Looks like you had a lovely day... could you send some rain to NM, please? :) Very cool pic of the squirrel - and hooray about the baby bird - you did good! :)

It wasn't a lot of rain. Less than an inch, I bet. But it was more than we'd had in weeks, so we were grateful! I hope you get some, too.

That squirrel, with its spiky tail.... :-)

I hope I did the right thing, and that putting the one back didn't unduly jeopardize the other two.

I've been thinking about competition between siblings.... Clearly it's to each one's advantage to get MORE AND MORE attention/food/protection from parents. No wonder human children act the same way, with millions of years of evolution telling them that is best for their survival!
