Pennsylvania Department of Records, on a sunny morning.
Yogurt for second breakfast.
It's nice to have a view.....
Another HOT day. At least there's a breeze.....
After the 16th, when I walked and walked, from one small place to another, I decided it was time for a big place where I could spend a good chunk of time without having to go outside.
I decided on the Franklin Institute. It's not too far from the Convention-Center Marriott, but given the weather, I decided to take the Phlash there.
The Phlash will take you to most of the tourist destinations. Our hotel was directly west of the #3 Phlash stop. "The historical stuff" is east on Market (so we got on the Phlash at the 17 stop, when we weren't going to just walk down there).
On this trip, I got off at #5, walked around the outside of the circle to the library, then crossed Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Franklin Institute.
Waiting for transportation, in front of the Reading Terminal building. You can't tell, but there is a bus shelter just here, so I was able to stay out of the sun.
Did I say it was hot?
It was hot. The sky was excellent....
I got off the Phlash in front of the cathedral.
This isn't the Miroir (scroll down if you click through the link), but it reminded me of it......
Looking across the circle at the Franklin Institute.
Walking around the outside of the circle, trying to stay in the shade.
Did I mention it was HOT?
Hmm.
This must be the most amazing name I encountered. I'd never heard of him, so I guess it's good there is a monument, to educate me.
Another look at the Franklin Institute from the other side of the circle.
The library! I couldn't be this close to an open library and not go in......
A fancy building, but it looks just like a library.... At the bottom you can see that there are low stacks.
Stacks, books, patrons, staff -- looks exactly like a library.....
There was an exhibition space, with a lot of things from Africa.
Love the textiles........
This guy looks so grumpy......
Love the bird!
